“Chris combines classical techniques with contemporary approaches to drawing and painting in his work, specialising in charcoal and oil.”
Christopher Clements
Born 1977
Clements is a classically trained painter of portraits, figures and landscapes, specialising in charcoal and oil. He founded Northern Realist Drawing & Painting in 2012, offering short courses and workshops based in the Atelier tradition to all levels of artists and he lectures at the University of Salford.
Christopher combines classical techniques with contemporary approaches to drawing and painting. The techniques he uses draw on the collective wealth of knowledge that has been passed down through generations of painters, particularly the skills taught in the academic ateliers of 19th Century Europe and earlier.
Christopher has a degree in Fine Art Painting from Manchester School of Art and a diploma in Classical Drawing and Painting from the Angel Academy, Florence. He has exhibited extensively in the UK and abroad, winning various awards.
