Very much a figurative artist, working from her Prestbury Studio, Karen uses her art as a way to express mood and emotion…”It’s not just about painting a view, a still life, or a portrait of a person…one needs to look behind the image for an emotional truth and perhaps a totally different interpretation – colour and the actual application of the paint both play a huge part in the process’’.

Karen is very much a contemporary artist and her paintings are mainly crafted using water-based materials such as ink, acrylics and watercolours, as well as gouache. In Karen’s view it’s not just about the subject – a painting is also about the artist…”I start off with the idea of some conformity …but then abstract ideas flow from there”.

Over the years her reputation, and recognition as an artist, has gone from strength to strength. Karen was shortlisted for the Daily Mail’s ‘NOT THE TURNER PRIZE’ …..with her work on display at the prestigious Mall Galleries in London. Her work has featured in various exhibitions around the U.K. including a solo show at the Portico Gallery in Manchester and the Gorstella Gallery in Chester.
